A federal judge granted EchoStar’s [DISH] request for a restraining order late Fri, preventing Viacom [VIA] from yanking its CBS stations, MTV and other nets from the DBS provider. The 2 are ordered to appear in US District of N CA Court Fri, when the judge will decide whether to extend the order. "We continue to believe that EchoStar’s lawsuit is a delaying tactic and that the proper place for this dispute is at the conference table, not the courtroom," Viacom said. EchoStar’s take: "We are pleased that the court recognizes that the interest of the public is served by this temporary restraining order."
