Best Advice in 7 Words or Less: Energy and persistence conquer all.

Why Her? Taking the reins at cable’s collaborative advanced TV venture makes Timko one of the most influential leaders in the industry. Since joining Canoe in 2009, she’s proven she’s up to the job—so much so that she became CEO in July. This year, Canoe propelled growth of its national ITV platform to more than 20 million households, now reaching more than 20% of the total U.S. multichannel market, 46% of digital cable households and 21 of the top 25 DMAs. Advertisers are taking note of its growing network roster – including AMC, Style, E!, Bravo, Discovery, History and, soon, USA – but there’s work to be done. Up next: advancing its national dynamic ad insertion for free VOD.

How to Get Ahead in Advertising: Canoe is partnering with the Association of National Advertisers on a collaborative research endeavor coined CEE MEE.

Year Ahead: Canoe is all about scale. Timko needs to broaden the ITV footprint beyond Canoe’s founding MSOs—still not an easy sell.

When I look at my cable set-top box, I can’t help but think: It has been such an amazing vehicle for enabling services that have changed peoples’ lives… I wonder about how to continue leveraging the set-top box while we welcome new devices into the fold.
