A House subcommittee slashed the Smithsonian’s proposed budget by $5.3mln, a fiscal reprimand of its exclusive on-demand deal with Showtime (CableFAX, 3/9). The appropriation also added language to limit such contracts going forward. The Smithsonian’s Board of Regents is meeting today to discuss the Showtime deal.
