The SCTE is taking over responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and publication of NCTA Recommended Practices for Measurements on Cable Television Systems.

NCTA Recommended Practices for Measurements on Cable Television Systems documents commonly available test procedures for measuring pertinent system operating parameters. It was first issued in 1984 and has been updated twice. The current version was updated in 2002.

The transfer of the publication’s copyright is intended to enable the SCTE to more effectively implement its role as the technical standards body for the cable industry. The SCTE is also plans on updating the publication to cover current technology.

The SCTE Engineering Committee, which oversees the ANSI-accredited SCTE Standards Program, has identified a small group of experts who will be working to revise the resource. In the meantime, the group welcomes any suggestions for improving the publication.

Anyone interested in providing comments or inquiring about the NCTA Recommended Practices and the group may contact SCTE at 800-542-5040 or [email protected].
