The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) has announced that a record number of abstracts were submitted for technical sessions to be conducted at the 2010 edition of SCTE Cable-Tec Expo this fall in New Orleans. A total of 231 abstracts on topics encompassing a wide variety of technical areas were tendered this year, eclipsing the old record of 210 established in 2009.

The 2010 SCTE Cable-Tec Expo Program Committee is in the process of reviewing abstracts, with the expectation of issuing notifications June 25 to authors whose submissions will have been accepted.

The abstract pool includes a variety of proposals for such topics as leveraging the capability of the networked home, innovative thinking on how to efficiently manage resources in increasingly diverse networks, and ideas for the evolution of network architectures to support new services and increasing customer demand. In addition, there are submissions in a variety of other subject areas, including such emerging sectors as energy management and 3D video.

The 2010 SCTE Cable-Tec Expo is scheduled for Oct. 20-22 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. The theme of this year’s Expo is “Playing Cable’s Technology Tune,” reflecting the ability of cable networks to provide compelling and diverse services to the customer.
