Samsung Electronics America has unveiled its expanded LED HDTV lineup with the new 8500 series. The new HDTVs, with networking and interactive features, will be available in September 2009.

The Internet@TV Content Service, developed in association with Yahoo!, provides onscreen access to Web-based content from Yahoo!, USA Today (Sports), Twitter, YouTube and others. The widgets-based interface and scrollbar are activated with the push of a button and run along the bottom of the screen for browsing.

After purchase consumers will be able to use a growing library of widgets as the widget development kit is available for other content providers to develop new offerings.

  • 4 HDMI (HDMI-CEC) version 1.3 inputs (side)
  • 1 component input (rear)
  • 2 USB 2.0 inputs (side)
  • 1 Ethernet connection (rear)
  • 1 optical audio output (side)
  • 1 PC input (rear)
