Canoe Ventures has selected Ireland-based S3 Group’s StormTest Development Center as the automated testing solution for Canoe’s national deployment of Enhanced TV Binary Interchange Format (EBIF) enabled ITV applications. With StormTest Development Center, Canoe can test multiple set-top boxes from multiple vendors across different operator networks – from one single testing platform.

Canoe Ventures has built a national ITV platform, which today reaches more than 20 million advanced-use, digital cable households. Canoe is growing its ITV footprint rapidly and is also developing new interactive EBIF applications that can be deployed nationally. The testing and validation required for this – across multiple platforms, operators and geographies – requires the support of a solution that ensures the consistent performance of these applications in different environments.

StormTest Development Center allows automated testing to be carried out more efficiently and effectively by testing multiple devices for interactive applications, embedded firmware and digital TV solutions simultaneously. The solution includes enterprise features such as centralized resource management, where testing slots can be pooled across systems and sites, as well as centralized reporting and results management.
