Gigaclear, a U.K. provider of ultrafast fiber-optic broadband to rural communities, has partnered with Vonage to give Gigaclear subscribers lower-cost phone services. Many Gigaclear customers reportedly are home-based small businesses. The operator predicts that, if they take the Vonage deal, they would pay a monthly fee of $9.15 for unlimited U.K. landline calls – saving an average $23 per month compared with landline charges. According to Vonage, these users also could have multiple numbers on one account; and they could choose their phone numbers, including one international number. Gigaclear currently is building its fifth rural FTTP network.
