Minn.-based fiber-management/connectivity platform provider Clearfield Inc. added a new feature to its FieldSmart Fiber Delivery Point (FDP) access network solutions. The FieldSmart FDP Outdoor 48-Port Wall Mount Panel “bridges the gap between large scale OSP deployments requiring a traditional outside plant cabinet, housing 288 to 1152 ports, and the small-scale wall mount panel solutions that support only a small number of users,” the company says.

The FDP Wall Mount ships with a field-deployed "knock-out" that allows for conduit entry while maintaining Nema 4 performance. A swinging bulkhead supports and protects sub-unit slack storage. Supporting as many as four Clearview Cassettes (which CT Reports noted was one of the most interesting innovations at the 2011 SCTE Cable-Tec Expo), the wall mount scales to as many as 48 users, providing fiber protection and scalability when there is no access to the inside structure.

According to COO Johnny Hill, "The rapid proliferation of fiber in the OSP and the diversity of applications require the development of products that offer a high degree of configurability. The FieldSmart FDP Wall Mount mimics the functionality of a mini-hub providing a variety of distribution applications from straight interconnect to optical components. This new Wall Mount is optimal as a demarcation deployment device for the side of MDU, office park or cell tower."
