Who Are The Leading Business Ethernet Vendors?
A new report from Vertical Systems Group ranked the leading competitive providers for U.S. business Ethernet services (based on port share) in this order: tw telecom, Level 3, XO, Cogent, Zayo, Reliance Globalcom and Integra Telecom. According to Rick Malone, principal, “Each of the companies brings a set of distinctive competencies to the Ethernet market, ranging from price leadership to optimized performance. tw telecom topped the Competitive Provider Ethernet Leaderboard in 2012, boosted by its leadership on dynamic bandwidth and advanced network management capabilities."
VDSL Sales Could Boost Fixed-Broadband Growth Globally
Infonetics Research tags 2012 as “a challenging year for fixed broadband equipment,” but VDSL remains a bright spot in North America, Latin America and Western Europe. Moving ahead, the group says vectoring solutions and a long-term path to G.Fast are driving sustained interest in VDSL2. Last year, worldwide spending on broadband aggregation equipment was down 10 percent, dropping to $6.65 billion, with DSL equipment taking a 26-percent hit. Meanwhile, the 2.5G GPON equipment segment was up 30 percent, led by China.
