Comverse Passes EANTC Muster
The European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) gave the Comverse Data Management and Monetization (DMM) Policy Manager product kudos for having the highest independently proved transactions-per-second (TPS) figures in the industry per single chassis. The testing verified 31.5 million simultaneously active subscribers in a single DMM while measuring more than 200,000 TPS in a single DMM. Such TPS support will be needed to handle upcoming LTE networking demands, including tiered-data programs.

Despite Challenges, Optoelectronics Revenues On The Rise
Rapidly declining pricing, softening demand and a continuing uncertain global economy are creating challenges for manufacturers at all stages of the optical industry supply chain, particularly those making optoelectronic and photovoltaic devices (i.e., Hitachi Cable, JDSU, Finisar, Oclaro, EMCORE, GigOptix and OpNext). A Strategy Analytics report says product development remains strong with the launch of several higher-data-rate optical components, but that most of the equipment orders at the front end of the optical supply chain are going to research institutions rather than to production expansions. On a brighter note, IC Insights predicts global optoelectronics revenues will grow 7 percent this year, reaching almost $30 billion.
