New Guide Assists IT Buyers
The Media and Entertainment Solutions Market Share Guide, just launched by IDC Retail Insights, supports IT execs who need more information when it comes to navigating IT suppliers that serve the media and entertainment industry. IDC says the guide examines solution-specific revenue for the top vendors, and it covers six key product lines: video and audio management, media xRM, broadcast and radio automation, content delivery and distribution, demand-side platform, and intellectual property and royalty management. The guide’s integrated data is set in pivot-table format that examines 129 vendors in the U.S. market. The tables address hardware, software, and services, and numerous customer segments.
Security Review Just ‘Due Diligence’ Prior To Sprint Takeover OK
The Justice Department and FBI, backed by the Department of Homeland Security, asked the FCC not to act on the proposed takeover of Sprint Nextel by Japan’s mobile carrier SoftBank until the agencies complete their review of related national security, law-enforcement and public-safety issues. According to Jeffrey S. Silva at Medley Global Advisors LLC, the DoJ/FBI/DHS review “is an expression of due diligence that will likely feed into the multi-agency national security review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).” Silva also believes the takeover will pass CFIUS muster and that FCC approval will come later this year. All the talk of Huawei as a DHS hot button also should be downplayed, he notes, because Sprint CEO Dan Hesse says any relationship with the Chinese company is “unlikely.”
