Parks Associates estimates that only 2% of broadband HHs currently subscribe to a VoIP service, an adoption rate that’s much lower than expected, given that nearly 1/3 of HSD HHs expressed a "high interest" in subscribing to VoIP back in 2002. The cautious manner in which many ops have approached rolling out VoIP rollout is a key factor, although Parks adds that the consumer market did grow by 500K subs this year. — Hats off to Time Warner Cable, which leads the 5 largest MSOs in DVR penetration, according to a report by Lyra Research. Additionally, Time Warner subs report the most widespread availability of VOD and VoIP service, beating out subs from Adelphia, Charter Comcast and Cox. The study was conducted in Oct and Nov and featured more than 600 cable users.
