EchoStar/DISH subsidiary DISH Digital inked a deal to use Recurly’s automated recurring billing service to increase the capabilities to offer multiple programming packages and promotional offers. DISH Digital includes the DishWorld IPTV unit with 174 channels across 15 languages, as well as the Blockbuster On Demand digital movie service.

DISH Digital vp, online strategy Geoff Campbell said the new system has already enabled the unit to “quickly implement a new promotion to offer a free 48-hour preview of DishWorld, opening the world of OTT to consumers who had not tried it before, and who can’t receive traditional satellite TV. All the way up to converting those neophytes into monthly or annual pricing for the foreign-language programming package that fits their needs.”

Recurly’s subscription billing platform is designed to support recurring billing, metered billing for PPV, and periodic one-time purchases.
