Everything’s coming up roses for Gottsch, who oversees Rural Media Group’s marketing efforts, including spearheading the company’s award-winning Tournament of Roses float. After Rural Media Group purchased FamilyNet in October 2012, the tactical planner assisted with the acquired cable channel’s merger with RURAL TV, and Rural Media Group’s network rebrand. “Rural Media Group is a family-owned and operated business, so coming in every day and being able to say good morning to my father and sister is a blessing not many get to enjoy,” she says.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is by far the people I work with. Rural Media Group is a family-owned and operated business so coming in every day and being able to say good morning to my father and sister is a blessing not many get to enjoy. My co-workers are also family to me…they are the most dedicated set of individuals I have ever had the pleasure of being around who are always there to support our vision to better serve the needs and interests of rural America. No day is ever the same, which is another thing I love, and with every new opportunity and challenge, we all work together to achieve our goals…as one big family.
 
How do you define success in the workplace? 
I personally define success as a combination of employees working together to accomplish a goal, which in return results with company growth. Not all successes end in profitability and it’s important to set your goals to begin with that way you know the best way to measure and define success.
 
Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance is first accepting there is no perfect balance on a weekly basis. Some weeks you will work endless hours and other weeks you are able to take more time for yourself. Best trick I have found is making it a point to schedule time for myself on my calendar. I schedule my workouts, I schedule vacations, I schedule days to take off and just relax around the house. By putting these personal days on my schedule, in advance, I am more likely to stick to the schedule and take time for myself. You schedule meetings on your calendar all day long, why not schedule meetings to meet with yourself?
