— Unicorn Media unveiled Unicorn OnceUX to manage cloud-based video delivery and dynamic ad insertion to any IP-enabled device through a single URL, delivering VOD and live video streaming via OnceVOD and OnceLIVE. The aim is for publishers to deliver a personalized, TV-like viewing experience on such devices as the iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, Roku, Boxee, TiVo, Windows Mobile, Xbox and smart TVs with a single URL. New client-side capabilities include the ability to incorporate interactive ads, to insert ad overlays in video streams and to hide player controls to prevent fast-forwarding through ads. OnceUX also reportedly eliminates third-party interface delays.
— SCTE will address one of the fastest-growing global markets with SCTE India, aimed at getting more engineers and technicians trained and accredited in the subcontinent. — Gracenote, a wholly owned, independent Sony subsidiary, is working with DG, a global ad-management and distribution platform, to create new ways to deliver targeted ads that synchronize phones and tablets automatically with advertising on the TV screen via audio and video fingerprinting. Gracenote’s audio and video fingerprinting technology can identify what TV viewers are watching in real time, and this could provide DG’s advertisers and brands the ability to dynamically insert ads into broadcast programming targeted at specific viewers.
— Mobixell Networks, a Calif.-based independent provider of mobile-video-optimization and Web-acceleration technologies, completed a field test of what it says is the world’s first data-optimization solution to be integrated into existing LTE access hardware. The product could assist mobile operators as they deploy new LTE sites, adding data caching and optimization without having to install other hardware in the access network.
