— Iceni, called by developer Neul Ltd. “the world’s first TV white space transceiver chip,” can tune across the UHF TV white-space spectrum (470 MHz – 790 MHz). Iceni offers adaptive digital-modulation schemes and error-correction methods that can be selected according to the trade-off between data rate and range required for a given application; encryption mechanisms that help ensure secure data transfer over the air; and memory-mapped parallel bus interface and discrete interrupt lines that can be used for waking external application processors like an ARM M3 when they receive a relevant frame. Iceni samples are available today to select partners for testing and app development.

— The Optelian MPX-9110 flexible 100G platform can be configured as a muxponder or a transponder, and the company says it can aggregate and transport any mix of 10 Gb/s, 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s services over a 100G OTN DWDM wavelength. When used in place of 10 Gb/s wavelengths, the MPX-9110 reportedly provides a ten-fold increase in capacity per wavelength, allowing for new services and providing 40G and 100G over existing infrastructure engineered to support 10 Gb/s connections.
