— The Ecliptic Meta Controller, a layer 1-7 controller designed to address existing gaps within the Software Defined Networking (SDN) space, now is available from Adara Networks. The controller implements and manages all supervisory programs in the data center and network infrastructure, including SDN controllers, cloud computing software, hypervisors and network hypervisors along with all common northbound and southbound APIs. The controller is available in two form factors: software only for a fully virtualized software solution or software on either purpose-built or third-party COTS Appliances (x86 or MIPS).

Aruba Networks’ HybridControl Wi-Fi architecture lets service providers support more than 32,000 Wi-Fi hotspots with a single Aruba 7200 Mobility Controller at as much as 40 times lower capex, 14 times lower power consumption and one-third the rack space of other offerings, the company says. Each hotspot can be deployed using multiple Aruba Instant access points, reportedly allowing a single controller to aggregate more than 100,000 access points. The architecture includes the Aruba 7200 Mobility Controller, starting at $37,995; Aruba Instant access points, starting at $395 each; Aruba Activate, free to Aruba customers; and the new 7200 Mobility Controller software, also a free Aruba OS upgrade in 2Q13.
