Optimum WiFi Provides Automatic Sign-In
Cablevision Systems’ Optimum WiFi has deployed a new automatic sign-in feature. Users can now sign in to Optimum WiFi just once, and their WiFi-enabled device will automatically connect to the network at any of the locations where Optimum WiFi is available in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Optimum WiFi enables all Optimum Online customers to take their Internet connection “to go” in commercial and high-traffic locations across Cablevision’s footprint by delivering free wireless Internet access.?
Customers who connect to the Internet through Optimum WiFi will be prompted to register their device directly from the sign in page. Additionally, customers can manually register any WiFi-enabled device from their home computer.
The manual registration option allows a new class of WiFi-enabled products to use the network – devices without Web browsers – such as digital cameras, the Nintendo DS and other portable gaming devices. Users can register up to four different devices per Optimum User ID, and have the ability to “name” each of them to differentiate multiple devices attached to the account.?
According to Cablevision, Optimum WiFi is now averaging close to 400,000 sessions per week.
