A Bronx, NY-based nursing home has selected Optimum Lightpath as its telecommunications provider, replacing five separate carriers.

Morningside House, a subsidiary of Aging in America, replaced T1s and 1.5 Mbps Internet access with Optimum’s 50 Mbps Metro Ethernet service and 20 Mbps Internet and voice service. Morningside’s particular IT requirements include a clinical database, hosted payroll and pharmacy applications and a billing system.

According to Optimum, the displaced carriers include AT&T and Verizon.

“When we brought in Optimum Lightpath, we increased data and Internet performance by as much as 50 percent for $2,300 less per month,” said John Mastronardi, assistant administrator for Aging in America, in a statement.
