Comcast launched "Disney Online," claiming it’s the 1st Internet broadband channel specifically for kids. The free "Disney Connection" channel is part of a previously announced agreement with Disney for broadband content for Comcast HSD subs (Cfax, 7/22). Kids can view games and videos on the channel and get free limited access to Disney premium services "Disney’s Blast" and "Toontown Online." Comcast HSD subs who opt to purchase the premium services receive a discount. With 40% of Comcast’s HSD HHs containing children, Comcast online svp Greg Butz anticipates the kids area will continue to evolve on Comcast.net. "You can envision a Kids Fan," Butz said referring to "The Fan," Comcast’s broadband media player. The MSO’s already spun it off once to create "The Sports Fan." — Worth noting that Apple’s "iTunes" online music store has sold its 150mlnth song since launching in April ’03.
