New Video Protocol Enables Mobile Video Conferencing on Any Device
Applied Global Technologies (AGT) has developed a communications protocol for mobile video – Mobile Pathway – for integrating mobile video conferencing with unified communications and telepresence environments. With the download of an app or the launch of a Web browser, smartphones, tablets, and laptops are enabled with Mobile Pathway. Once a device is enabled with Mobile Pathway it can securely connect with high definition (HD) video conferencing systems without requiring any special firewall traversal devices or configuration from IT.
Mobile Pathway doesn’t rely on restrictive multi-port protocols. While legacy protocols such as H.323 and SIP are appropriate for conference room systems, they don’t allow for easy, hassle-free connectivity from any network to any network because of the numerous open ports required.
The Mobile Pathway protocol leverages secure, already open standard Web ports to enable video communication with smartphones, tablets, and laptops. This provides true video mobility for any mobile device regardless of whether or not it’s tethered to an enterprise network.
AGT is delivering Mobile Pathway on the ENCORE UC Video Platform to businesses, government, educational institutions and service providers as a mobile video conferencing gateway to existing video conferencing infrastructures.
