Following a network upgrade, CenturyLink Inc. says it now can deliver 100 Gbps nationwide across its backbone and in more than 50 U.S. metros. Additional capabilities will be deployed in early 2013, including connectivity to Savvis cloud, hosting and colocation services, data centers and customer business locations. The operator also recently deployed 100 Gbps in Singapore and London, with more international cities planned for early 2013…The Spirent Landslide from Spirent Communications now can test a mobile infrastructure’s readiness for such all-IP services as voice over LTE (VoLTE), video calling and multiplayer mobile gaming. The solution combines control plane testing with the most realistic application data to provide insights into policy control procedures, charging and content awareness…Lyfe Communications Inc., which develops next-gen media services integrating TV, high-speed Internet and enhanced voice services, filed a core technology patent for adaptive transport of multimedia. “These technologies can be used to increase services in areas where full high-definition TV with video on demand is too expensive to build and operate, and also be used to lower capital and operating expenses on major networks with full triple-play services today,” Lyfe comments…Sprint Phone Connect for Wholesale, a product for Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) released today by Sprint Global Wholesale & Emerging Solutions, is a plug-and-play device replacing the current office wireline handset; calls will be carried on the nationwide Sprint 3G Network. Services available with Sprint Phone Connect include voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, three-way calling and call forwarding. The Sprint Phone Connect device has built-in GPS to support 911 calling and a battery backup, so the service stays up even when the power goes down.
