The LightPulse 16Gb Fibre Channel (16GFC) Host Bus Adapter (HBA) from Emulex now is available for use across a broad range of Dell servers, storage and switches. The new Dell LPe16000 (single-channel) and LPe16002 (dual-channel) 16GFC HBAs are the first 16GFC adapters available for Dell PowerEdge servers and for use with Dell PowerVault MD3620f and MD3600f storage arrays, as well as Dell PowerConnect and Dell Force10 switches. The Dell 16GFC adapters reportedly can deliver more than a million I/O operations per second (IOPS) on a single port, cutting response time by 75 percent compared to the 8GFC predecessor…Loyalty-program developer Viggle has opened its platform to third-party developers, releasing a free Viggle Platform Developer Kit (VPDK) to allow TV networks, producers and programmers to develop their own show- or channel-specific enhancements and experiences, including real-time polls, games and quizzes. The VPDK is comprised of the Viggle Platform API and a variety of audience engagement tools; it leverages common Web standards like HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. The kit is free, and Viggle says developers retain any profit generated from their apps…SpectraGuard Enterprise Version 6.5, a wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS) from Wi-Fi provider AirTight Networks, has achieved Common Criteria certification under the IDS System Protection Profile. This facilitates continued SpectraGuard deployment in government and defense networks to protect them from airborne information security threats.
