Net Insight has been awarded a contract by Teracom for a new national distribution network in Sweden for Digital Terrestrial TV, based on IP/Ethernet and with the new DTT standard DVB-T2.

The agreement covers Teracom’s new nationwide all-IP/Ethernet distribution network and is the first IP-based DVB-T2 network in the world. DVB-T2 is the new standard for Digital Terrestrial TV, which offers better utilization of capacity, which can be used for HDTV and other value-adding services. The network will carry distribution services both for standard and high definition (HD) TV for delivery to Teracom’s end-customers. With its multiservice capabilities the Nimbra network will also be utilized to carry other services.

The network will integrate both optical and IP links using Net Insight’s channelized IP Trunk module to provide one high quality media network, with unified fast protection and end-to-end control. The network will also incorporate Net Insight’s Time Transfer feature for GPS-free time synchronization as well as end-to-end performance monitoring enabling Teracom to verify quality of service to end users without adding costly external equipment.
