Motorola Mobility Teams With BelAir Networks For Cable Wi-Fi
Motorola Mobility will deliver BelAir Networks’ Wi-Fi portfolio to cable operators worldwide. This new relationship combines Motorola’s portfolio of cable video and broadband solutions and customer support organization with BelAir’s Wi-Fi solutions for service providers.
With this agreement, Motorola will instantly gain access to BelAir Networks’ portfolio of Wi-Fi access points, picocellular technology and advanced Wi-Fi network provisioning and management solutions. With the proliferation of Wi-Fi enabled smartphone and tablet devices, cable operators using Motorola cable Wi-Fi solutions can offer their subscribers on-the-go broadband services that are a simple extension of their in-home broadband services and experience.
The cable Wi-Fi portfolio supports virtual Wi-Fi access points that allow cable operators to offer branded Wi-Fi services to their service provider partners using a single access point. Combined with the ability to provide localized backhaul of cellular devices, these cable Wi-Fi and picocellular technologies offer opportunities for new revenue streams.
The new Motorola cable Wi-Fi portfolio can be deployed in strand mount, pedestal and underground locations, promoting limitless possibilities for access point locations. Supporting 802.11n and 3×3 MIMO standards based beam forming, Motorola’s cable Wi-Fi portfolio includes access to the entire market leading BelAir portfolio, with initial focus on the CW100SNE for cable network applications, the CW20E for indoor applications, CW20EO solution designed for outdoor wireless mesh applications and CWView, an advanced provisioning and management tool supporting the complete Motorola cable Wi-Fi portfolio.
