Motorola has broadened its cable passive optical network (PON) portfolio with Radio Frequency over Glass (RFoG) solutions through a strategic agreement with Alloptic. The agreement provides Motorola with exclusive rights to offer Alloptic’s RFoG solutions to cable operators worldwide. The addition of Alloptic’s new products to Motorola’s existing portfolio of RFoG solutions is intended to address cable operators’ needs to create a seamless evolution while reducing operational expenditures on the path to all-fiber infrastructures.

By helping to protect existing investments in infrastructure and customer premises equipment, RFoG is intended to minimize capital expenditure and provide cable operators the ability to gracefully evolve to an all-fiber network. Motorola is an active member of the RFoG industry standards effort.
