More From Genband Perspectives13
ORLANDO — Innovation Exchange, unveiled today at the Genband Perspectives13 conference (read more in “What You Need To Know Now” in today’s issue), is a collaborative business and technology exchange that includes holistic and vertical solutions that bring together Fortune 500 companies and other organizations with smaller companies to develop, test and deploy new solutions leveraging Genband’s smart networking and UC technology. Charter members of the Innovation Exchange include Arrow S3, Avnet, CounterPath, IBM, Intel, IP Command, IP Trade, M*Modal, mPortal, Netas, Polycom, RapidScale, Smartrac, T-Metrics, UXP Systems, Voxeo, X-Factor Communications and Zecurion. This group won’t remain exclusive, Genband execs say, but it will be solutions-oriented based on customer input.
>> Genband also announced a new partnership with application-delivery-networking provider F5 Networks Inc. to deliver integrated SIP and Diameter signaling products. As a result of this teaming, Genband debuted the QUANTiX DSC (Diameter signaling controller) that integrates Diameter functionality with the QUANTiX Session Border Controller to provide advanced, secure and scalable voice and data roaming capabilities for IMS and LTE network operators.
>> Finally, Genband released the SPiDR WebRTC gateway. Deployed as a component of the company’s Smart Core, Smart Edge and Smart Experience lines, SPiDR is based on emerging WebRTC and HTML5 technologies that help Web communities create services that integrate directly with existing SIP-based networks. In a private demonstration to CTDaily, Sanjay Bhatia, senior director/Product Marketing, showed SPiDR’s capabilities when it come to single or multiple video conversations – a must for enterprises with a mobile workforce that also want to, perhaps, cut business-trip costs by offering telepresence. Service providers can offer rich multimedia directly from any Web browser, including voice, video, IM and presence. Genband SPiDR also delivers independent media and signaling interworking capabilities along with transcoding functions that bridge OTT and legacy signaling and voice/video media streams.
