In addition to providing strategic leadership for Turner Media, Battin oversees the company’s new multiplatform health and wellness initiative, upwave. Digital components are up and running, and a branded primetime programming block launches on HLN in December. Her personal wellness plan includes making it a priority to be home every evening for her three young children—“to hear about their day, see their games, read with them and eat dinner as a family.”
What’s your favorite part of your job?
The people. I love working each day with creative, passionate people who love what they do and believe in our brands.
How do you define success in the workplace?
Each day I ask myself have I moved the business forward today? Have I created something new and exciting for consumers? Have I innovated, challenged the status quo, asked the right questions and pushed the boundaries? If the answer to these questions is yes, I’ve succeeded.
Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?
Having three young children—I make it a priority to be home every evening to hear about their day, see their games, read with them, and eat dinner as a family.
