The show’s closing session Tues was well attended, but light on news. One of the more interesting observations came from Time Warner ent chmn (and Faxie winner) Jeff Bewkes who noted that he hasn’t heard much about DBS at National. "That’s progress here at a cable show," he said. Another Bewkes-ism: cable should put all networks on VOD for free, while keeping them ad-supported. Networks would have to buy the rights and cable systems would have to license the rights. Steve Burke at VOD-loving Comcast was quick to 2nd the notion, saying it would be "good for everybody."
