Mixed Signals Demos Content Monitoring
Mixed Signals is demonstrating the latest features of its Sentry content monitoring solution, including its Perceptual Scoring System and Executive Reporting Package. The new features build on Sentry’s content monitoring capabilities and are designed to enable cable operators to quickly identify and resolve video and audio errors that degrade subscribers’ QoE.
The Sentry is designed to gauge how much video and audio errors impact the subscriber experience so operators can determine the errors that require immediate attention. The Perceptual Scoring System does its analysis by taking into account human visual and auditory responses to gauge a subscriber’s frustration level over video and audio impairments. The real-time, 24/7 system is designed to detect, track and report on a variety of subscriber impacting events including video tiling, frozen video and loss of audio simultaneously in literally hundreds of HD and SD programs in either the MPEG-2 or MPEG-4/H.264 video formats. The system can determine which type of error is occurring, on which programs and the severity of the issue from the subscribers’ viewpoint.
The Executive Reporting Package is designed to automatically provide engineers and executive staff alike with the information most relevant to them when they want it. It is designed to capture detailed QoE information that quickly highlights the top offending programs and/or locations. It allows each user to generate customized reports that provide as much or as little detail as required, from monthly high level reports for executive staff to immediate notices for technicians as incidents occur.
