EVP, Programming Crown Media Family Networks
Crown is going gangbusters for original programming, and Vicary was integral to the success of Hallmark Channel’s first original scripted series “Cedar Cove,” which exceeded ratings expectations. She says professional success requires two things: “First, you have to challenge yourself and your colleagues to produce the best content, ideas, and production,” she says. “Then, you have to inspire people to love to come to work every day. It’s when those two goals feed off each other that I find the greatest success.”
What’s your favorite part of your job?
This is really tough, because I have my dream job so there is a lot to love. I love the work that I do, and the pace at which we have to get things done, but if I had to choose, I would say my favorite part is the amazing group of people I get to work with every day who make my job fun and exciting!
How do you define success in the workplace?
For me, it is achieving two goals. First, you have to challenge yourself and your colleagues to produce the best content, ideas, and production. Then, you have to inspire people to love to come to work every day. It’s when those two goals feed off each other that I find the greatest success.
Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?
My trick is to add to the list of everything I need to get done every morning. From there, I figure out the top 5 things that I absolutely must do, whether it’s personal or professional, and then I panic about the rest!
