Cable sometimes seems like it moves from one great party/event to another. With CTAM Summit and its bevy of shindigs set to kick off Sun night, word reached us that cable party fixture Chuck Klein will executive produce one of cable’s biggest events, the Kaitz Foundation dinner, during Diversity Week (Sept 22, NY Hilton). NCTA chose Chuck Klein Prods over 3 other bidders. Under the reorg of Kaitz last fall, the Foundation operates under the administrative auspices of NCTA. But to more important things, Chuck assures us his win will not mean the end of his traditional Kaitz after-party. "It’ll be better than ever," he says. In fact, last year’s after-party sponsors Discovery and Turner just re-signed for the extremely late-night affair that features multiple bands and a menagerie of unusual characters. While details of the cocktail reception and dinner have yet to be set, Klein anticipates a slightly longer and more festive cocktail party, perhaps with entertainment. There might be more audio-visual during the dinner, which this year honors Spencer Kaitz. "We want the event to reflect that Kaitz now is a different organization," he says. Of course, "we don’t want the dinner to go too long" as that might detract from the after-party, he jokes. The deadline for Kaitz ticket/table reservations is Aug 20.
