Commentary By Paul S Maxwell Big Mama Bell? Sort of. Big, yep. But not really the old Ma Bell. More like the new Godzilla. Bigger than the entire cable industry … but, gosh, certainly entitled to a little help from its friends in Washington, DC, right? Wrong. Redlining … or cream skimming … or just getting by ain’t right. Somehow cable keeps getting the wrong side of the straw man arguments (details in the March 20 CableWORLD … by the way, any feedback on the new design, package and content would be appreciated) in today’s political climate. (Speaking of that political climate … it’s a good thing our politicians weren’t negotiating with King John … the Magna Carta might have been the Empty Carta.) We can beat these cheaters who are bigger but cry tears about negotiating with every little bitty town council … we can do it by getting the Sprint/Nextel deal done soon … and then make their ring tones have busy signals as we ring their chimes!
