President/CEO, WICT
For the third year in a row, Brennan has helped WICT set record membership numbers, which now are up to nearly 10,000. She also led the organization abroad, with its first event in the U.K., and relaunched WICT’s Senior Executive Summit for high-level women in cable. On success in the workplace, she envisions equity: “Not added access, simply equal access.”
How do you define success in the workplace?
I define success in the workplace as one of equity. Not added access, simply equal access. When women and people of color are treated with parity the entire workplace ecosystem is more successful. By conducting the biennial PAR survey, we are able to measure the state of women in cable. We in turn use the information to create deliverables that help cable companies absorb and enact best practices gleaned from the data. Nothing would make me more pleased than to one day sit back and say, “well, all things are equal—seems our work here is done.”

Who would you want to swap jobs with for a month and why?
I’d like to swap jobs with my she-ro Olivia Benson on “Law & Order SVU.” (Not to be confused with swapping jobs with the amazing Mariska Hargitay.) I have grown to know and love this character so well, I would appreciate stepping in to her shoes to try and make a difference for those who are seriously abused. But truth be told, a month might be too long. While I consider myself a strong individual, it takes a whole different level of strength to do that kind of job.
