If the new “Rick and Morty” series (fall premiere) on Adult Swim is half as entertaining and informative as its creators were at TCA, viewers of the sci-fi/sitcom animated series are in for a treat.

“Community” head writer Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland are the co-creators of R&M, Roiland will voice both main characters, displayed impressive wit and insight taking critics’ questions. Influenced by “Back to the Future” and British sci-fi, the series focusses on the adventures of a genius inventor grandfather and his less-than-brilliant grandson. The secondary story will center on Rick and Morty’s family, featuring the voices of Chris Parnell (a weak father), Sarah Chalke (his assertive wife) and Spencer Grammer, Morty’s sister.

Each ep will be like a “mini movie” paying homage to sci-fi tropes, Roiland said, with very few serialized narratives.
