NTS Inc. connected its first fiber customer in Hammond, La., marking the operator’s expansion of its FTTP network into that state. The photo to the left shows NTS President/CEO Guy Nissenson (left) congratulating Bruce Labrecque (right), owner of the Mariner’s Inn restaurant, which will receive one month of free service. When completed, the Louisiana fiber network is expected to add approximately 11,500 FTTP passings, bringing NTS’ total FTTP passings to approximately 50,000. The Louisiana network expansion is being funded using a portion of approximately $100 million in federal stimulus funding. The operator also serves Mississippi, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
