SVP, Ad Sales Marketing, Scripps Network Interactive

Don Draper has nothing on Galietta. For the past two years, she has been part of the team that has taken top honors for Most Creative Pitch and Brand Integration Team of the Year at the CableFAX Sales Executive of the Year Awards. In addition to creating creative opportunities for Scripps’ advertising partners through brand and product integration, Galietta spearheaded Scripps’ multi-market upfront presentations this year. Her motto for achieving a life balance: “Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life,” she says.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
Mentoring and leading my team. I have the great fortune of leading some of the best and brightest marketers in the industry. It has been my privilege to play a part in their development and help them grow. It drives me every day to be the best that I can be. So it’s doubly important for me to clear paths for them to be the best that they can be. That gives me my greatest joy in the workplace.
How do you define success in the workplace?
Knowing that your contributions are valued and have made an impact in your organization is, to me, the definition of success. It’s what keeps me passionate about the work I do. It’s why I wake up every day, excited about what’s ahead.
Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?

Perspective. Remembering to think, how important will this be in one month? One year? Five years? I keep a motto on my desk that helps me keep my priorities straight: “Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”
