Latens has announced the launch of CAS 5, a software only Conditional Access System (CAS), which will work on all networks – cable, DTH, DTT, IP and hybrid – from the same headend.

Latens’ CAS dynamically detects how set-top boxes are connected to the CAS and automatically allocates the entitlements and permissions to them.

Latens CAS allows operators to use multiple CA systems for service delivery. At the headend, Latens CAS is fully DVB Simulcrypt compliant enabling the operator to run Latens CAS with another DVB Simulcrypt compliant CAS.

In the set-top box, Latens CAS 5 supports Dual CAS mode, meaning that operators can have two CA systems on one set-top box.

A software CAS enables operators to offer security across the home on multiple devices: home gateways, advanced 2-way set-tops, low-cost set-tops, or consumer devices such as PCs and mobile devices.  Latens CAS 5 also allows operators to secure OTT services across multiple devices.
