Lab Simulator Emulates Fiber Networks
A compact fiber-optic network simulator that reportedly can be customized to exactly emulate a physical network in the laboratory, with high reliability and repeatability, is available from N.C.-based M2 Optics Inc.
The Fiber Lab 3200 is a 19-inch, rack-mounted, optical-fiber management package M2 Optics says can be customized with virtually any fiber type or mix, including lengths, splices and connectors, to match a physical network’s specifications. “Capable of simulating an optical network to 120 kilometers, it eliminates fiber and connector damage and yields fully repeatable results,” the company adds.
The custom product can handle as many as four lengths. Applications include product development and certification, long-distance network simulation, latency and delay testing, and training.
The Fiber Lab 3200 is priced according to fiber type and configuration.
