Former EVP/CMO

TV One

Talk to Bailey for a little bit and you’ll likely hear the phrase “Social-by-Design.” Having spearheaded TV One’s rebrand last year, Bailey has moved on to new adventures. But we suspect she’ll be announcing something soon—so we’re keeping her on our list. At TV One, she brilliantly placed the network’s shows in the hands of viewers and then got them to evangelize. The net’s well on its way with originals “R&B Divas” and “The Rickey Smiley Show” setting social media records, and Facebook and Twitter posting huge year-over-year gains. Biggest story in cable this year? “Netflix is an industry game changer,” she says.

What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?
Netflix is an industry game changer. It demonstrates that content is really king, and that the lines between TV and internet are truly blurred. The buzz of its stellar originals lures in viewers; and now with its profiling capability, Netflix recommends content tailored to personal viewing tastes. It’s “must have” for many!

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?
I’m not sure I’d call it a trick, but I believe the best way to maintain a balance between personal-professional lives is to do what you love and love what you do. Who would you want to swap jobs with for a month and why?

Wendy Williams. Why? She’s got ultimate access and has fabulous opportunities….from performing on Dancing With the Stars to becoming an author to performing on Broadway, and meeting and talking to all of her favorite people!
