After peaking at 65.5% in ’98, cable penetration of US homes was 58% by the end of ’06, reported SNL Kagan. Kagan said cable’s market penetration will likely fall below 58% by year-end. Other numbers as of Dec ’06: 65.4mln basic cable subs; 112mln occupied cable homes passed; a $41.12/month avg basic cable rate.
