EVP, Program Strategy & Acquisitions
TV Land
Thanks to Cohen, TV Land has secured acquisitions for such hits as “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “The Golden Girls.” She’s known to program with multiplatform viewership in mind, which in today’s landscape is the differentiator for standing out above the rest. “Success to me is doing your homework and making smart choices that move the needle,” she says. “It’s also important to listen to what others have to say, and to have a lot of different voices at the table.”
What’s your favorite part of your job?
TV Land is always in constant motion. What started as a purely acquisition-based channel with a nostalgic point of view has evolved into a network that produces broadcast network quality original programming with top talent in front of and behind the camera. This channel has charmed both our customers and the industry. I am inspired by the way we continue the brand evolution and how we pave our own way. I work with an amazing team of talented people and we have a ton of fun!
How do you define success in the workplace?
I feel strongly about taking risks, but at the same time I’m not a huge supporter of making change just for the sake of change. Success to me is doing your homework and making smart choices that move the needle. It’s also important to listen to what others have to say, and to have a lot of different voices at the table. We need to be open to giving up control sometimes. It’s in these (sometimes uncomfortable!) moments that great ideas can be born.
Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?
Don’t require a lot of sleep!
