Bresnan is the latest MSO to bump HSD speeds, raising its standard 3Mbps service to speeds of up to 8Mbps downstream in systems in CO, MT, WY and UT. It believes that gives it one of the fastest standard tiers in the country, behind speed demon Cablevision. The free speed upgrade is in about 90% of the MSO’s 600K home footprint. Bresnan also launched video email and "Bresnan Music Link," which connects customers to 24-hour digital music feeds. — Cablevision COO Tom Rutledge defended his company’s network DVR at an investor conference Fri, calling it a "big opportunity" for the content owners that are suing the MSO over the tech. Network DVRs could allow for more targeted advertising and marketing, he said.
