Imagine Communications today announced a next generation platform for its ICE Video Processor. The new platform, which is scheduled to start shipping in early Q3, is designed to allow up to eight HD channels or 32 SD channels per rack unit.

The ICE Video Platform comprises a suite of solutions for digital broadcast and personalized TV services such as VOD, nPVR, IPTV and Internet Video. Imagine’s software-based approach is intended to allow continued improvements in the ICE-Q algorithms, which in turn are supported by the industry’s ongoing and rapid advances in hardware processing. The ICE Broadcast System is designed for managed video quality, bandwidth efficiency, cost effectiveness, high reliability, and rack space and power savings.
