Market research and advisory firm IDC has released a study pointing to lessons that cloud computing providers can learn from telecommunications service providers about "rating" transactions. "The investment in billing systems for cloud computing is drawing upon the rigor, scale and technology experience of the telecommunications industry," said Elisabeth Rainge, director of NGN Operations, IDC, in a statement. The study, "Worldwide Telecom Cloud Billing 2009-2013 Forecast," sizes the current and projected market for cloud billing and assesses the suitability of existing solutions for nascent cloud requirements.
