Huawei has officially opened a research center in Ottawa, Canada. The Huawei R&D Centre is designed to provide operators and partners with local access to Huawei’ s solutions as well as to leverage local talent while driving growth of Canada’ s telecommunication industry.

Located in Kanata, the R&D Centre is working on multiple, strategic product initiatives in the wireline, wireless, optical, and IP networking areas. To date, the R&D Centre has more than 70 company employees.

Huawei opened its first Canadian office in the spring of 2008 and provides telecom solutions to Bell Canada, TELUS and SaskTel.
