LEGHORN LANDS IN AIR FORCE HALL OF FAME
CableLabs founder Richard S. Leghorn was inducted into the Air Force Space and Missile Pioneers Hall of Fame for his contributions to the advancement of the Air Force’s space and missile programs. A retired colonel of the USAF Reserve, Leghorn led the development of early Cold War airborne and space-based reconnaissance systems. Leghorn is a director emeritus on CableLabs’ board of directors.

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented eight Emmys to CN8, The Comcast Network, on Sept. 9. Among the winning shows were It’s Your Call With Lynn Doyle and Out of Bounds. WICT ATLANTA NAMES WEATHER’S

WICT’s Atlanta chapter announced the recipients of its Red Letter Awards, honoring outstanding achievement, leadership and advocacy in the cable industry: Inspiration Award for Woman of the Year, Debora Wilson, president, The Weather Channel Companies; Horizon Award for Woman to Watch, Kathy Payne, VP, programming, Cox Communications; Catalyst Award for Woman in Technology, Rhonda Lowry, VP, executive in residence, new products group, TBS; Mentor Award, Angela Gray, VP, human resources, Comcast; Rising Star Awards for Emerging Leaders, Cox’s Denise Myers, Judy Nussbaum and Ruby Patton, and Turner Sports’ Jennifer Storms. The Red Letter Awards Gala will be held Oct. 3 at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta.
