CableWorld’s John Ourand received an honorable mention in an internal contest at CFAX parent PBI Media for a CableFAX Daily scoop about Western’s demise. CableFAX 100 magazine was awarded a 1st place prize for best special issue in the same contest. — Showtime led all programmers with 8 nominations for NAMIC Vision Awards. Disney Channel and HBO received 6 each, BET and Zee TV got 5 each, Nick got 3, VH1 and Video Rola got 2 each as did ESPN; single nominations went to Oxygen, BBC America, AMC, Lifetime, Turner Studios, MTV and Court TV. Awards will be presented Apr 16, the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
