Hitachi Communication Technologies America has announced a line of optical network units (ONUs) for its DePON fiber access systems. The new ONUs are designed to leverage the low cost, high bandwidth available with PON while enabling cable service providers to keep their existing DOCSIS provisioning and management systems. In other Hitachi news, the company is also introducing a 100 Gbps next generation optical transport platform, the AMN6400 Advanced Packet/Optical Transport Platform.
